Costume Parade

Dear Families,

It is almost time for our annual Kindergarten Costume Parade!  On Monday, October 31st Kindergarten students and their teachers will parade through Stapleton School.  Wearing costumes is optional for all students.  If your Kindergartener chooses to wear a costume for our parade, please send him/her to school with his/her costume in a labeled bag. If possible, label all pieces of the costume. No toy weapons are permitted. Each student will change into his/her costume at school.  All three Kindergarten classes will parade through Stapleton School beginning at approximately 9:30.  We would like to invite families to gather and watch our parade through the cafeteria at approximately 10:00 am. We will do our best to keep our parade on schedule.  In order to prepare for the first lunch, everyone will need to exit the cafeteria by 10:30 am.  We look forward to seeing you in the cafeteria at our parade!

***Please do not send in any edible holiday treats for our classes.***

Sincerely,

The Kindergarten Team

Math Productive Struggle

In Kindergarten, we have been learning about Productive Struggle.  Productive Struggle is a time when students work as team to conquer a challenge. There are many different ways to complete the challenge and teachers encourage students to talk to each other to decide what to do. Students develop a plan with peers and complete the challenge.  Today we worked as a team to put a math puzzle together.  Students took turns, listened to friends, and shared their thinking!  We are so proud of their hard work!

Reading Celebrations

Room 109 finished our first unit in Readers Workshop! Students are working hard everyday! We learned all about being a book lover, different parts of a book, elbow partners, and 3 different ways we can be a reader! Here are some of our anchor charts to help us remember what's expected:

Today we celebrated all of our hard work as readers. We snuggled up with our rest materials and looked at some of our favorite books with an elbow partner. Look at all of the Kindergarten readers!
